Complimentary Beta Reading

Thank you for your interest in submitting your manuscript for beta reading through Spoken Flame Company.

This page outlines what to expect, what is required, and how we will work together.

I look forward to reading your work and helping you bring your story to light.

Submission Requirements:

Manuscripts must be complete, ready for feedback, and under 100,000 words.
Your manuscript should have undergone at least one round of editing or revision before submission to ensure it is in its best possible form for review.
Accepted genres include:
- Faith-based fiction with clean content. YA is accepted.
- Faith-based non-fiction, such as testimonies, personal stories, or teaching. Real-life scenarios that are honest or graphic are welcome in the context of redemption and faith. Please include a note or disclaimer in the manuscript if it contains sensitive or potentially triggering content.
At this time, I am not accepting poetry, children’s books, journals or devotionals, manuscripts with heavy romantic themes, or horror.

Your manuscript remains entirely your property.
I will not share, copy, distribute, or use your manuscript or any ideas contained in it.
Manuscripts will be deleted after feedback is given unless the owner indicates they would like other services.

Feedback will focus on overall story structure, pacing, character development, clarity, and reader engagement.
This is not a line-editing or proofreading service. Manuscripts needing extensive editing may be returned at the discretion of Spoken Flame.
Feedback will be delivered as written notes and/or comments directly in the manuscript.
If you have specific requests for feedback, please include them with your manuscript.

All manuscripts will be reviewed and returned with feedback no later than two weeks after acceptance.
I will communicate with you if circumstances require adjustments to the timeline. You are welcome to reach out with any questions throughout the process.
